PORTOVENERE, CINQUE TERRE AND THE ISLANDS (PALMARIA, TINO AND TINETTO), ITALY

In 1997, Portovenere, Cinque Terre and the Islands (Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto) were designated as a World Heritage Site. Terraced extensively for the cultivation of vines and olive trees, Portovenere, Cinque Terre, and the Islands are known as much for for their extraordinary landscapes, as they are for the settlements that have evolved, despite the topographical challenges of the area.
